Student Event Directors 2023-24
Each event is overseen by a Student Event Director. These directors are there to assist you with questions regarding your events.
Responsibilities of all Student Event Directors:
- Must be thoroughly educated in the rules of their event
- Must attend all student meetings
- Must wear their director vest
- Must be in the arena at the time of their event with a current rule book
- (if unable to be present, they must designate a qualified replacement
- Must be the contestant's liaison in the event of a disputed call made by the judge or other rodeo personnel
Event Specific Responsibilities:
Pole Bending Stella Oland
- Haul poles and rakes to and from rodeos and assist the staking out of the pattern
- Also the director for Jr. High Pole Bending
Barrel Racing Abbilyn Strandberg
- Haul barrel covers to and from rodeos and assist the staking out of the pattern
- Haul all stakes and tape measures
- Also the director for Jr. High Barrel Racing
Goat Tying Elizabeth Grandbois
- Bring goat leads (10' long with snaps on each end)
- Assist the switching of goats, mark penalties, and check the draw before each run
- Make sure fresh goats are tied enough prior to competition that they take the tie
- Also director for Jr. High Goat Tying (boys and girls)
Breakaway Roping Kayla Peters
- Furnish nylon breakaway string, mark penalties, assist the judge at the line and check the calf draw before each run
- Inspect each roper's flag and breakaway string before entering the box
- Also the director for Jr. High Breakaway Roping (boys and girls)
Queen Claire Metzger
- Organize the Grand Entry
- Line up flag carriers
Girls Cutting Ellyah Wickenhauser
Boys Cutting Stranton Oftedahl
- Bring ribbon and assist the marking of the back fence and timeline
Team Roping Mia Holmstrom
- Bring and install box pads
- Assist the judge in lining steers, mark penalties, and check the draw before each run
- Also the director for Jr. High Team Roping
Tie Down Roping Quinn Kotek
- Assist the judge at the line, mark penalties, designate two ropers to untie calves, and check the draw before each run
- Inspect the neck rope before roper enters the box
- Make sure calves are tied enough prior to competition that they take the tie
- Also the director for Jr. High Calf Roping and Ribbon Roping
Steer Wrestling Lane Spencer
- Mark penalties, assist the judge at the line, and check the draw before each run
- Make sure all fresh steers have been thrown enough prior to competition that they take the throw
- Also the director for Jr. High Chute Dogging
Bareback Riding
- Responsible for MHSRA gear that is for use if someone does not have their own
- Assist stock committee in requirements for stock at State Finals
Saddle Bronc Riding
- Assist stock committee in requirements for stock at State Finals
Bull Riding Stetson Kuntson
- Assist stock committee in requirements for stock at State Finals
Reined Cow Horse Lana Houck
- Assist stock committee in requirements for stock at State Finals
Shooting Sports Orran Hart
